Dog Rescue Stories: Onyx Was Overlooked at the Shelter
By Jarissa Aquinde, Positively Woof Rescue and Adoption Story Editor
Jessica and her husband moved to Holbrook, NY in January of 2016, and wanted to adopt their own pup. They went to the North Shore Animal League
in Port Washington, NY and that’s where they met Onyx. She was a 3 month old Lab/Pit bull Mix.
Onyx came all the way from Tennessee to New York to find her new forever family. Many people were passing her by because she just had surgery on her cherry eye and was wearing the ‘cone of shame’. No one was really paying any attention to her. As soon as Jessica locked eyes with her, she fell in love – it was an instant connection! They filled out an adoption application right on the spot and brought her home with them that day.
Onyx is now a one year old pup living side by side with her cat brother, Binx, and a new human, baby sister!
