Popeye was rescued off the streets of Gardena, CA. It was a stormy night in late November 2014, and a good human was walking his dog when he found Popeye.  At just four weeks old, Popeye was all alone, and there was no sign of a momma dog or other puppies.img_20160512_222351
Popeye’s forever mom, Kara, works at an animal hospital and Teri, a client from her work, connected with the good human who found Popeye. Teri took him in to foster through Labradors and Friends Rescue and brought him to Kara’s work to be checked out by a vet. He was missing some hair on his back paw and tail, which eventually grew back after some good food and TLC. Kara took a picture of Popeye, sent it off to her boyfriend, and he asked if the pup needed a home. Kara told him that Popeye would be ready in a few weeks when he was older and stronger.20160701_144224-01
Kara had just lost her seven year old pittie, Reaper, to cancer the month before, and she just knew that Reaper sent Popeye her way. On January 16, 2015, Kara officially adopted Popeye and he has brought so much joy to her life, and to everyone he meets! He absolutely loves every person and every dog he comes in contact with, and he loves to try to make friends with every cat he comes across. Popeye is very smart and loves learning new things. Popeye and his furever mom love to hike, as they get to meet so many new friends along the trails.img_20160529_181658
