Celebrate these holidays with your pets. Take some of the more “human-centric” holidays and see if you can spin them into a way to celebrate with your pets. Share your creativity with us on our Facebook page!

Share your holiday story with us. If you’re a blogger, contact us (and please put Pet Calendar in the subject line) if you have a pet holiday story you would like us to link to.  We have added a few quirky holidays (where you see “Story Idea” below)  to give you some ideas.

Monthly Holidays

Adopt-a-Cat Month®. From the American Humane Association

Adopt-a-Shelter-Cat Month. From the ASPCA

Social PETworking Month

National Pet Preparedness Month. This month, timed for the first month of hurricane season, urges people with pets to make preparations in case they should be hit by a disaster…and that includes making plans for what you would do with your dog in case of a hurricane, tornado, flood or other natural disaster. As has been seen in recent weather occurrences, you just never know when you may need to evacuate because of flood, fire or other natural disasters; this could even include if you live in an area of the country that gets hit with triple digit temperatures and experience a monsoon-related power outage like they do in Arizona. shutterstock_395290360
