Dawn Sylvia-Stasiewicz was a very special dog trainer who knew dogs instinctively. She was best known for training the most famous dog in America, Bo Obama. She trained dogs on both sides of the political aisle in and around Washington, DC, including each of Democratic Senator Ted Kennedy’s and Vicki Kennedy’s Portuguese Water Dogs, and Republican Senator Chuck Hagel’s dog. She also trained countless dogs (and their owners) around Northern Virginia and at the Boys and Girls Club of Georgetown, Washington, DC.
A dog trainer for more than two decades, Dawn drew on lessons she learned from raising her three children and her own intuition. Dawn was a long-time member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers, and a mentor to many trainers, behavior specialists, and future veterinary professionals. She and Larry Kay wrote the award-winning book, Training the Best Dog Ever (a.k.a. (in hardback) The Love That Dog Training Program), which won the first-ever Best Book Award by the Association of Pet Dog Trainers and Best Book on Training and Behavior by the Dog Writers Association of America.
