As part of our series on Black Cats for National Black Cat Day Kristin Avery of My Rescued Life wrote:

I have always loved black cats, but even more so after volunteering in shelters and seeing how they are so often overlooked. They are kind of like the underdog of the cat world, which makes me love them even more.

I also wear lots of black and black fur isn’t as noticeable on black clothing – so that’s a fun added perk!

Rosie wandered into our backyard in July 2009. She was only about nine months old, but already had multiple battle scars from her life on the streets and frostbite on her ears. She was friendly and bossy from the start.

Basically, we opened the back door and in she walked, quickly assuming her natural leadership position in the household.

She’s small in stature but BIG in personality!
