As part of our series on Black Cats for National Black Cat Day,  Editor of PetsWeekly, Stacy Mantle wrote:

Here are photos of my black cats, Magellan and Hephaestion.

They are litter mates from a colony I brought with me when I moved. They were five when we moved them (the youngest of the small colony) and they are now eighteen years old.

They live in a large heated and cooled indoor enclosure and have most of our backyard in which to roam. They were feral when we rescued the colony and assumed they’d be impossible to tame, but they now let me brush them each night. They are great cats!

I’m not sure of their breed, but they are beautiful and while still half-wild, are starting to mellow in their old age.
