Dog Rescue Stories: Adopt Pretty Pittie, Peaches!!

Peaches Featured

Peaches is a sweet, mellow dog who LOVES people of all ages. Her idea of a pawfect day is riding in the car, going on park trails or hikes, or just curling up next to you to watch the game or a movie!

Peaches was rescued from death row at a crowded kill shelter in Georgia 3 years ago by Eleventh Hour Rescue. Not much about her previous life is known, other than that she was abandoned and picked up as a stray.  Her incredibly sweet temperament made her a favorite among shelter staff and volunteers, but a forever home continued to elude her.

She was adopted in 2014, only to be returned a short time later when she displayed severe separation anxiety.  Her adopters said she was great in every other way but sadly, they did not have the time to dedicate to helping Peaches overcome this issue.

Peaches remained at the kennel for another year, getting weekly trips off the property for pack walks and day trips with her favorite volunteer.  The pair also signed up for an Agility Allstars workshop, where Peaches displayed an ability to learn at an incredibly fast rate.  She conquered the course in no time!  At the graduation showcase, Peaches stole the show with her adorable, crowd-pleasing antics!18517_946429368743212_3587348107000444027_n

Then, in November 2015, Peaches got her luckiest break yet!  She went into foster with a loving couple who were willing to put in the time to help her overcome her separation anxiety.  She remains in foster to this day and is doing great!  Her foster environment has not only helped her overcome most of her anxiety issues, but also gave her the opportunity to meet other dogs and experience many new adventures!

Peaches is still available for adoption through Eleventh Hour Rescue in New Jersey.  She has good leash manners, is housebroken, obedient and very low key (she rarely barks)! Peaches has been fine around several other dogs, but can be dog selective. And, although she is great with kids, she would do better in a house with bigger children who couldn’t get knocked down if she jumps up to kiss them!1

It is recommended that Peaches stay in her special crate when there is no one else home, just in case her separation anxiety comes back. This crate is custom for Peaches and will come with her into her new home.  Both the foster family and EHR can provide instructions and assistance during the process to whomever adopts her.11536521_965699940149488_1456794619836883499_o
