Dog Rescue Stories: Pepe Was Thrown Over the Fence of a Local Animal Shelter

By Jarissa Aquinde, Positively Woof Rescue and Adoption Story Editor

My name is Pepe and I’m an adopted Podenco from Tenerife (Spain)! I currently live a very happy life in Leiden (The Netherlands). Shortly after I was born, my owner was kind enough to throw me over the fence of a local animal shelter. Trust me, that’s a kind thing to do, compared to what happened and is still happening to a lot of my podenco friends all over Spain.pepito-2
I lived there for about six years when my human saw my photo on the internet. Kind people from sighthounds2save gave me a second chance and it took a while, but when my human saw me, she knew I was coming to live with her.
So, I had the experience of my life, flew to the cold and rainy Netherlands to live with my human and my brother Benji, from Greece. Benji is 16 1/2 years old and has lived with my human for 14 years. He has had a rough life on the streets of Greece, but he is also living his happy, senior life! He is adopted thanks to the wonderful people of S.O.S. Strays. (both adoption foundations are based in Belgium).
