It’s National Pet Month! What?! If you are a pet parent — regardless of the species — can you truly single out a specific month to celebrate your pets? I know I can’t!

What is the origin of National Pet Month, (which is celebrated in the United States in May and in the UK in April)? It is simply the celebration of the benefits that pets bring to our lives. Whether you share your life and home with a dog, cat, ferret, fish, reptile, horse, hedgehog, bird or fish, you know, as a pet parent, the calming effects they have.

National Pet Month

It’s been medically proven that if we pet an animal we can lower our blood pressure and after a stressful day at the office, what could be better than snuggling up with your pet and chilling? I certainly can’t think of anything better.

If you don’t have a pet and have been thinking about getting one, why not adopt this month? You can give a shelter pet the dream of his or her life — a forever home AND you will benefit because your life will be happier when you’re sharing it with a furry friend.

How will you celebrate National Pet Month?
